City Legal’s Managing Director, Dan Peachey, has recently been named Vice-Chair of the language sector’s leading professional body, the Association of Translation Companies (ATC). Having served as a Council Member and on its PR and Marketing committee, Dan’s industry experience has seen him recognised for his valuable contribution to the ATC.
“It’s a great honor and challenge to be given such an important role at the ATC, at a time when the industry and the association itself are going through such great change. The language sector in the UK is evolving rapidly and it’s an exciting time for both City Legal as ATC members and me personally.”
Dan joins the ATC Chair Ruth Partington and its newly appointed CEO, Raisa McNab, in driving the ATC forward in the coming years. “Our vision is to support and nurture our members for sustainability and growth and to create recognition and trust for stakeholders by promoting and regulating quality driven language industry standards and best practice”, Dan added. “Under its new leadership, the ATC aims to be the governing body for translation companies in the UK with regulatory function, within the next 5-10 years.”
One of the oldest translation associations in the world, the ATC has been involved in significant changes in the sector and continues to provide leading advice and support including working with legislators about matters affecting the industry. From its beginnings as a small group of leading British translation companies in 1976, it has grown to a membership of more than 150, expanding its horizons to become a worldwide association at the vanguard of the industry. The ATC is also a founding member of the European Union of Association of Translation Companies – a pan-European grouping of translation company associations.
